FAQs
What does the program cost?
MusicWorks has a sliding scale tuition based on income. To determine what your cost would be please check the table below. First, find the number of people in your family and then, locate your family income to determine tuition. If for any reason you feel you can not pay the suggested tuition please let us know. MusicWorks does not turn away any student because of inability to pay.
How many days will my student attend MusicWorks?
MusicWorks is in session every full day of the Asheville City Schools calendar. This means that most weeks, students attend MusicWorks five days a week from 2:30pm to 5:30pm. It is a significant time commitment and we ask you to think about that before you apply. MusicWorks does not operate on half days or snow days. We do have concerts and other performances that happen throughout the year where students are asked to meet at other locations and times. We will give you advanced notice so you have time to plan for these events.
Where is MusicWorks held?
MusicWorks is located at Hall Fletcher Elementary on Ridgelawn Road in West Asheville.
Who is able to attend MusicWorks?
Students from Hall Fletcher Elementary (HFE), Asheville Primary School(APS) and Vance Elementary (VE) are able to attend. Applications are accepted from 1st and 2nd graders from APS and VE. Students can apply beginning in kindergarten at HFE.
HOW CAN I APPLY
Go to our enrollment page! Generally, we take students at the beginning of the school year and then accept a small group in January if there is room in the program. If you are interested in applying at another time, please contact us.
Will I need to provide transportation for my child?
All students need to be picked up at 5:30pm from Hall Fletcher Elementary (HFE). Asheville Primary School (APS) and Vance Elementary (VE) students are able to ride the bus from their school to HFE everyday after school. In addition, for concerts and events outside the school MusicWorks often needs parents’ help to transport students. We will always try to let you know well in advance when these events are going to happen.
